So…guess who’s been binge-watching Jessica Jones…

And guess whose brain has been popping out plot bunnies for hours, too.

minor JJ spoilers under the cut

  • the Doctor and Zepheera landing in New York (probably to see a Broadway show or something nice and relaxing) but they run into Jessica or someone else who knows Kilgrave
  • the Doctor being confused for Kilgrave in any way, and then he has to be a part of some plot to lure him out of hiding (kinda like that one time in Classic Who, with Two and Salamander)
  • Jess whaling on the Doctor thinking he’s Kilgrave before realizing he’s not him and whisking him away, leaving Zepheera behind wherever Jess knocked the Doctor over
  • just Jess and Zepheera interacting in general makes me giggle morbidly

Or worse…

  • the Doctor needs to become human again for whatever reason, but something goes wrong while his biology is being rewritten, giving him mind control and a false history he believes shaped him into a psychotic sociopath
  • the ‘Kilgrave’ version of the Doctor doing what Kilgrave does while Zepheera watches helplessly from a safe distance
  • Zepheera following Kilgrave and Jessica and Reva as he makes Jessica dig up a strong box that contains a little yellow flash drive and an old fob watch
  • Zepheera approaching him after the bus crash, trying to get to the pocket watch when in a daze Kilgrave declares that she’s not real and orders her to go away
  • Zepheera finding Jessica after months of searching, only to become what Jess believes is an alcohol-induced hallucination

I need sleep…

JUS TTHE OTHER DAY I WAS THINKING “what would john smith do with zepheera how would this situation be handled” I CANT BELIEVE THIS IM PSYCHIC

borrowedtimeandspace:

One of us must be, that’s too funny!

I wrote that Zepheera-vision a few days ago and was just going to keep it in my drafts for a rainy day, but then I hit 20 followers and didn’t know how else to celebrate. I’m glad you liked it!

John Smith is a hidden gem, and one that I’d like to work with more now that I think about it. The fact that he is entirely separate from the Doctor leaves his personality wide open.

In a modern-day scenario like in the ZV, Zepheera would take on a normal role as a borrower just as John Smith would become an everyday man with an everyday job. Depending on how far John’s work was, she might follow him just to make sure whatever it is they’re hiding from doesn’t find him. But if that’s too risky of a journey, she might call in a favor from a borrower in the area.

The ZV also depicts a situation that is taking a turn for the worse. Maybe their pursuers are on their trail and she needs to convince him to leave or come back with her to the TARDIS, but either way she has no choice but to reveal herself. Clearly John doesn’t take it very well at first, but he can’t help warming up to this strange little woman who thinks he’s some kind of doctor.

Though she disapproves when he calls her cute, she can’t stop him from thinking it almost constantly.

Zepheera-Vision — Human Again

“Calm down, John.”

“What? Calm? I am calm. Calm and perfectly…sane. I mean, any normal bloke would just imagine a four inch tall woman telling him he’s actually an alien from outer space. And offering said tiny imaginary woman beans on toast is only polite, logical, and-and-and–” John Smith stammered as the more than slightly burnt toast jumped straight out of the toaster, throwing him off his already flustered rant. He tried to catch the flying bread in a knee-jerk reaction, succeeding only in hurting his fingers and swatting the food across the counter, thankfully away from Zepheera.

“This is crazy!” he snapped, throwing his hands in the air in utter exasperation. With a white-knuckled grip on the counter, he rounded on the self-proclaimed borrower. “More than that–it’s impossible! There’s no such thing as aliens, and I’m not even sure if you’re real! Tiny people just don’t exist. And even if they…if you are real, then…why me? Why did you have to come to me??” John squeezed his eyes shut as though it would make everything go away, anxiously rocking back and forth a little. This was all too much for him to handle at once.

But a light touch brushing against his knuckles made his eyes snap open and focus on Zepheera, who had laid her own tiny hand on his. His breath caught; she had looked small before, but now in direct comparison to his hand he felt so terribly large. He couldn’t help but stare in wonder at how she somehow found the nerve to approach a comparative giant who could hypothetically grab her at any time, one who had been shouting at her not a moment ago. For that, John thought she was an extraordinarily brave figment of his imagination.

“I’m real,” she promised. He watched as she leaned down and took hold of his first finger where it sat curled in a formerly tense fist. She lifted it, uncoiled it, and laid the very tip of it against her cheek, half-leaning against her shoulder. John could feel her soft, fine hair, her miniscule ear, the warmth of her skin, and he could no longer deny her existence. When she saw the recognition in his eyes, she shifted the finger against her shoulder–to sit more comfortably, John could assume.

“I know it doesn’t make sense, but you need to understand that it had to be you. You don’t know it yet, but we’re friends, you and I. I’m supposed to be watching out for you in case of trouble. And I’m afraid, John, that we really, really need to talk.”

Zepheera’s voice was so kind and sincere, and a small part of John could not resist that look in her teeny violet eyes. “Shall I get started on those beans then?”

She smiled, sending a bubble of warmth through John’s heart. He’d made her happy, and for whatever reason he was extremely proud of that. “Yeah, I think you better had. Gonna be a long chat.”

John waited for Zepheera to fully let his finger go before carefully lifting it away and walking to the cabinet by the stove.

“And that’s four and a half inches tall, thanks very much!”

Despite himself, John giggled at the correction.

Zepheera-Vision — Cats (1/4)

image

“NO.”

The Doctor’s attention snapped from the kitten in his hands to the borrower putting a safe distance between herself and him. “What! I didn’t say anything!” His wide grin belied his indignation.

“You KNOW how I feel about cats, Doctor!” Zepheera glared at the bundle of fur he held as it glanced around meekly. She wasn’t fazed, not even by the little pink bow around its neck. “I thought you hated cats.”

“Oh, don’t listen to ‘er, Jacks,” he cooed, lifting the kitten to his face. “She’s just being grumpy today.”

“No, don’t name it! You are NOT keeping them!”

Her protests went ignored as the Doctor looked fondly down at the other half-dozen kittens circling his feet, crying for his attention. The only solace Zepheera could find in the situation was that they were too young to jump onto the table she currently stood on; and even then, she kept as far from the edges as possible.

Beginning to feel desperate, Zepheera tried a different angle,

only slightly emboldened by the barrier of junk between them. “Doctor. If I wanted to bring a Dalek onto the TARDIS, let alone seven, you’d say no. Because the Daleks are predators and would be a threat to AT LEAST one of us!”

Still, the Doctor didn’t respond, lost in the fluffy cuteness that surrounded him.

Part 2 next Saturday!

Asks and Prompts here! | Submissions, too!

#10 for the sentence prompts. (also – if you’re taking hiatus from Ao3, will you continue to post stories on here or is it a hiatus from writing in general?)

Basically, Ao3 is the main place I post my writing. The problem is, I take it chapter by chapter rather than finishing a story before thinking about posting, and it turns out I’m a rather busy person. This means that my updates on Ao3 are usually really slow and irregular. I once went over a year between updates! I want to break out of this, and the only way I know how is to take a break from posting there until I have my shit together on that.

The Ao3 hiatus will officially start after the stories I currently have going are done.

I’ll still be writing, also revising some of my older stories, giving updates if you guys are interested.

The good news is, with this blog I can keep my followers updated on how writing’s going, and I can have fun with and glean inspiration from my followers. I am open to posting short stories and fun little things that deviate from the canon of my series here. (I actually have a really angsty Zepheera-Vision queued up that was so long I had to split it up into four parts! Gonna hold off on that until a few more fluffy ones are established…)

Hope that clears that up for you! Anyways, here’s your filled prompt!

Every part of Zepheera ached. Her whole body tingled with pins and needles, her head was pulsing, and when she opened her eyes her vision was blurred. That was no doubt from the flash of bright light she remembered experiencing before blacking out. Squeezing her eyes shut in attempt to banish the colorless blob in the way of her sight, she rolled over onto her back with a hiss of discomfort. Pins and needles…

Zepheera, her own voice sounded so distant in her mind. She ignored it, concentrating instead on the feeling slowly returning in her fingertips.

A small clatter from the floor behind her caught her attention, but her headache prevented her from looking. “Zepheera,” her voice called again.

She groaned, then stopped halfway through the action. That groan…didn’t sound like her own. It was deeper than she was used to, more guttural. Her hand went automatically to her throat, where she felt more than just a strange lump where before there was none. She felt a speeding and irregular pulse through the more-weathered-than-usual skin.

Gasping sharply, she bolted upright, immediately bonking her head with a yelp of surprise that wasn’t hers.

“Oi, careful! Easy on the goods there, luv!”

She turned her head toward the shrill voice a little too fast, dizziness causing the floor to approach rapidly; she just barely caught herself with a tingling forearm. Now her eyes were wide, adjusting much too slowly for her liking as she looked around for the speaker. Shapes and colors were much more clear to her now, but details were lacking and nothing seemed familiar.

“That’s it. We just all need to keep a calm head about this, okay?”

That’s when it hit her. She shifted her gaze down toward the floor and paled at the sight of herself. Like looking into a mirror, but the reflection was far too small. Everything snapped into focus in that instant, revealing details in this tiny double that looked odd on herself. Her arms were raised placatingly, brow pinched with a slight raise in the left one, mouth animatedly open as her chest heaved with unusually high breaths.

“Zepheera…” her tiny double’s tone was warning, in anticipation of some kind of negative reaction.

Suddenly it sank in. Only one person talked to her like that, and it certainly wasn’t herself.

Zepheera’s eyes darted to the hand she now owned, so much larger than the small figure before her. It was a hand she knew all too well, and as her panic rose it became impossible to ignore the thundering beat on the right side of her chest that echoed the left.

She shot to her feet in a complete knee-jerk reaction, but this only made matters worse. Now she was faced with the stark height difference between her proper body–all four and a half inches of it–and all seventy-three inches of her current body. She staggered backward, staring down at the frighteningly familiar blue suit she now wore, and tripping on converse-clad feet in her haste. She crashed roughly against the floor.

A grunt of effort rang out and she turned to look. Not six inches away from her right foot, her old body’s legs were dangling through the grate of the catwalk, a clear result of having fallen over thanks to the impact of the body Zepheera currently inhabited. She balked, aghast at how much weight she was responsible for now, and how easily influenced the small body that now housed the Doctor’s consciousness–a mind-blowing concept in itself–really was.

The Doctor quickly hauled himself out of the gap and started carefully toward Zepheera, intent on comforting her, reassuring her. She backed away from his approach.

“Go away!” she shouted in the Doctor’s voice, cringing when she saw her body wince at the volume. Her back met the cool metal of the railing around the console, and she curled herself into the tightest ball the Doctor’s body would allow. When she spoke again, it was practically in a whisper. “I’m too big. I might hurt you.”

Thanks for the prompt @elitefourstevonnie!

17 sounds fun

Indeed it does.

The TARDIS door creaked as the Doctor stepped out cautiously.

“Here we are. Tertas, circa five-thousand-ish. And it’s springtime! Love a good ol’ Tertatian spring! What do you think?” He turned to his companion Zepheera as she shifted on his shoulder, admiring the surroundings.

The borrower gaped at the bright green sky, streaked with mauve clouds that moved sluggishly in the light breeze. “I think it’s gorgeous,” she answered, a grin to match the Doctor’s plastered to her face.

“This’ll be an experience,” the Doctor mused as he closed the blue box behind them and sauntered off at a steady pace up a hill. “For once, you’ll be the one that fits in better than I do.”

Zepheera frowned, but knew better than to ask what he meant. Knowing him, either she’d never know the answer or she’d know in a matter of seconds.

This time, he went with the latter.

Once at the top of the hill, a tiny town could be seen in the valley below. Quite literally, a town small enough to perfectly fit hundreds of people Zepheera’s size. Her breath caught at the sight.

To her shock, the Doctor strode right in. Apparently he’d visited before, and the townspeople were rather amiable toward him. Knowing the Doctor, he’d probably saved them from utter destruction.

“Doctor!” someone called down by the Time Lord’s feet. The Doctor smiled widely when he looked down.

“Matzy!” he greeted, crouching slowly in the courtyard he’d found himself in. Zepheera peered down from her perch to see a middle-aged Tertatian man, who looked rather like a borrower if not for the purple-ish tint to his skin. “It’s been a dog’s age, how’ve you been mate? How’s the farm?”

“Going strong, thanks to you! How’s that Martha of yours getting on?”

Oh, she’s fine, found her own way.” the Doctor practically waved off the question. “I actually want you to meet somebody. This is Zepheera. She travels with me now.” He lifted a hand to act as a ferry between his shoulder and the cobbled street, one which Zepheera eagerly took.

“Lovely to meet you!” she beamed.

“Likewise.” The Tertatian offered a hand for Zepheera to shake. “The name’s Matz, no matter what he says,” he said, cutting his eyes at the Doctor.

“That’s how I remember you!” teased the Doctor. “It’s what you went by when we met.”

“I was ten years old.” Matz laughed anyway, then turned to Zepheera once more. “Would you like to come in for tea? I’ve just put the kettle on, and I can tell you all about the Doctor’s last visit here. I assume he hasn’t told you already.”

“Only because you tell it better, Matzy ol’ pal.” The Doctor reached down and ruffled the grown man’s graying hair.

“Tea would be great, thanks!” Excited beyond belief to learn firsthand about an alien race the same size as her, Zepheera hurried into the man’s humble house.

Matz started to follow her before glancing back at the Doctor. “I would invite you in, but you won’t fit in the house.“

“No worries,” said the Doctor with a grin. He stood with the intention of exploring the town further. It had expanded quite a lot since he’d last visited, and he was sure to encounter some new faces along the way.

…wow, that ended up long. Hope you liked it though ^-^
