“John,” Sherlock greeted, sparing a glance in his flatmate’s direction. That split second was more than enough for Sherlock to register the confusion, utter shock and disbelief fighting for attention on the doctor’s face as he stared.
At the sound of the second human coming into the room, Dean backed himself against the far wall of the jar. He pulled out his hook, wielding it as a backup weapon and knowing it wouldn’t do much if he needed to defend himself. That didn’t matter; if he was going down, he was going down fighting. There was no way to know how this human would react. The first one’s reaction was bad enough.
Sam could feel the weight of the gaze on him double in intensity, and he tried to make himself seem smaller. He put his hand on his own weapon, using the feeling of the hilt in his hand as an anchor. If they tried anything, he could defend himself. It didn’t matter if it was useless, it was better than being trapped in a beaker or a jar.
Dean jabbed his hook in Sherlock’s direction. “Just because we’re trapped like rejects from Land of the Giants doesn’t mean we’ll answer your questions like good little captives,” he growled, refusing to show any weakness in front of the new giant. “Now let my brother go.”
John blinked hard, trying to force the hallucination out of his sight. It had to be that, or Sherlock drugged his tea again… But no. One of the little figures spoke quite harshly to Sherlock. At the mention of a brother, John’s eyes darted to the large beaker. He’d almost missed the other person entirely, curled as he was into a ball of stress and fear.
“Oh God,” he breathed. These were people. Much smaller than average, but people all the same.
He walked numbly forward, a million questions flying around his head at once. The more pressing one stuck out just as he came to stand next to the seated detective.
“Sherlock, what have you done?” he demanded, his attention split between his sociopathic friend and his captives.
Agent Stan Baker is a character that will be introduced in the second official story of Brothers Consulted, and he’s taken off on us!
You can find out a bit more about him here, and he appears in the excerpts here, here and here. Keep an eye out for him in future snippets and stories! Stan is here to stay!
Sketchie of bitty Zepheera holding her baby brother Kernel for @borrowedtimeandspace. X3 Cuties. (Kernel should probably be slightly bigger but shhhhh. Smol bab.)
So it’s been a while since I’ve done much of anything on this blog ^^; School had consumed pretty much my entire existence so I’ve been behind on prompts and shirking the Zepheera-Visions, and I’ve also gotten myself deeply involved with the @brothersapart universe.
But that’s not all I’ve been up to.
Introducing Borrowed Magic, my first co-written AU in the BTaS universe!
@neonthewrite has lent me her Bowman to join in the shenanigans of my borrower OC Zepheera and the Tenth Doctor in my crossover series Borrowed Time and Space. Fittingly enough, we’ve named this AU Borrowed Magic.
I’ve poked at ideas for AUs of BTaS before, mostly to allow for interactions with more of the Tenth Doctor’s companions, but this one has the potential for so much fun. Not only is Bowman a spitfire of a sassball, but it’s interesting to throw yet another non-human companion into the mix! His life in Wellwood has in no way prepared him for travel in time and space, and it doesn’t help that he’s the youngest and the smallest on board (due to the slight scale difference, Zepheera ends up a whole half-inch taller than the sprite, much to his annoyance).
This is a young AU, but Neon and I do have plans in store for these dorks. I’ll start posting excerpts semi-regularly, and we’ll take any questions involving the AU!
For now, here’s a sneak peek at our first completed story!
“Zepheera, answer me!”
Who is Zepheera?
The insistent call deepened the concerned frown on Bowman’s face. He watched the tall man with hardly-blinking eyes for a moment before registering that there could be another human out there. That made his wings fan open and closed as he scanned the forest for another giant nearby.
He was thinking he might have to fly a short distance to find another giant crashing around in the woods. Keeping track of all intruders was imperative for the safety of the village. Bowman turned, aiming to look behind himself first.
He did a double take at the sight of someone on the branch with him.
“Spirit’s dance!” he yelped, flinching backwards. He stumbled off the end of the branch, but his wings caught him easily, flaring open and pulling him back up to hover level with one of the strangest people he’d ever seen. They had skin that looked a bit pale compared to his own, but not as pale as the tall human a distance away. Most important was the lack of any sort of wings on their back, despite otherwise being sprite-sized.
@nightmares06 tagged me forever and ever ago, and I ought to be putting content on this here blog of mine ^^; So here we go!
Rules: Post these rules. Post 8 facts about your character. Tag 8 other characters. Post their names along with their creators’ avatars.
1. Stan (full name: Stanley Aaron Baker) is a pseudo-freelance agent who works alongside John Watson, Sherlock Holmes, and Sam and Dean Winchester in Brothers Consulted, my collab with nightmares06.
2. His character took us both by surprise. He was initially just going to be some suit to get the boys from A to B, but his personality shone out of nowhere and now he’s here to stay!
3. He is 27 years old and 6′ even, the closest in age to Dean out of the Baker Street crew.
4. Against the odds, he and Dean Winchester hit it off when they first meet, immediately developing an easygoing yet playful rapport that puts them both at ease when interacting with someone so different in size.
5. Stan is Irish by descent, but he was born and raised in London. He and his family in Ireland are close, so occasionally a bit of the accent will slip into his speech when he’s not thinking about it.
6. Much of Stan’s family served in the military. He grew up formally and informally training in combat with his elders, even his older brothers, but never served himself. Even so, he is a natural born leader and he carries a militaristic air when he’s on a job that requires those skills.
7. Though he keeps it a secret from the more conservative members of his family, Stan is engaged to his long-term partner. His fiancee’s name is Nathan Sullivan, and though he is a civilian, Stan keeps him up to speed on the less confidential aspects of his work. He knows Nathan would never betray him.
8. Stan and Nathan own a German shepherd. Her name is Juno and she sheds a lot and they love her.
